Writer’s Quote Wednesday-Rumi

I guess it is the time again to bring you from the gems of Mawlana Rumi. It is one of my favorite quote and I am sure will become your favorite too.

Quotes are nothing but affirmation of unspoken thoughts residing inside your mind and when you read them , they resonate inside with those words and your heart tells you it is the truth ! Mawlana Rumi has mastered this art of capturing these thoughts and they serve as sign and reminder of our true inner feelings.

The biggest proof of this quote is my ¬†blog and I ¬†keep coming back here to pen down my thoughts, although a virtual space but it is still a place for refuge for being with my¬†own self where that otherwise quiet person inside, speaks . This is what I like the most may be to be clear in my mind, to hear what’s going inside . Sometimes some stories unfold, sometimes ¬†old memories resurface and sometimes there is good old ¬†friend’s advice. There is so much going on, we just need some time to stop and listen, to be our own friend .

We may not be able to pursue our passion as full time thing because of many reasons in life but we can always find some time to do the things we like to do the most. It serves as a form of meditational therapy to keep you calm and at peace.

Do let me know what you all like to do ?  Happy Wednesday Everyone !

Writer’s Quote Wednesday-Steve Jobs

For Wednesday Ritual of Quotes , I have with me a personal favorite from Steve Jobs .

I find this quote a motivation booster at times of confusion between life choices you are about to make or when  you get too confused with opinion of others or experiencing pressure from people around you.You just need to sit down for few minutes in silence with nobody else but yourself, listen to none but yourself  and let your heart speak out its heart to you.

Always take those seldom chances to do things you always have wanted to do even if it for a short while; It helps you to build ¬†confidence and bring you at peace.I think Steve is so right in saying that you know it already what you truly want to become. We all know what we love , what our passion is . Sometimes is is hard to follow that path or practically not possible due to many factors affecting our life but giving yourself small little chances ¬†to do things you are passionate about also helps a lot. That little inner voice which keeps bugging ¬†you to do something gets satisfied somehow . May be it’s the reason we see people passionately waiting for their holidays to go skiing, hiking or mountaineering ,some learning to ¬†cook or dance or paint. They might be actually living their lives in those ¬†holidays and that feeble inner voice gets drowned for some time ūüôā

Writer’s Quote Wednesday-Aristotle

I found this quote quite useful and stands true for everyone.

Criticism is another reality of life, something nobody can avoid or escape. Aristotle expressed in best possible words that only solution to it is ‚ÄėDo Nothing, Say Nothing and be nothing! ‚ÄėThough it will not apply if you have nosy and sneaky neighbours who will then gossip about you

“O My God, he doesn’t do anything? “

“She doesn’t say anything she has no opinion of her own “,

‚ÄúHe is useless‚ÄĚ.

There is no end to criticism and there is no way you can avoid it. The only way is to deal with it and live with it. The best or worst everyone had their share. The normal human behaviour against criticism is to criticise back and we just do the same thing and end up complaining about criticizing nature of people.

We are human and mirror images of each other, sometimes the criticism is just out of envy, that we are envious of people’s success or looks or their possessions etc. That is when you feel there was no reason to criticise you for doing something good or harmless to anybody. You can completely ignore such criticism.

There is some reasonable criticism too, and there is where you just can’t go blindfolded and deaf eared, some people criticize you so you can improve. They didn’t see how good you are, they tell you how better you can be. There is term called constructive criticism which is taught in management and practiced in corporates as well. It is used to give you a feedback in best possible way which shouldn’t demoralize you but tell you your best abilities, your weak points and areas of improvement. The words and tones are chosen wisely as not to offend the receiver, and this is what we should do in our daily lives too. We need to choose our words and tone wisely in case we are giving feedback to someone. So if someone is genuinely interested in your betterment he will approach you in a wise and sane manner.

Stay away from hate mails, hate speeches or hate comments from people, they are in no way thinking any good of you  or  to correct you. It is from bunch of people having nothing to do except spreading hatred which will ultimately come back to them. It is a negative energy and don’t let it burn you or weight you down. Ignore it, just think it like a released arrow from a bow, and you have to dodge it. Don’t reply back and don’t even think about it.

Keep doing the good work you are doing, at least you are doing something ūüôā

Writer’s Quote Wednesday-Ralph Waldo Emerson

‚ÄúTo be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.‚ÄĚ
‚Äē Ralph Waldo Emerson

I dedicate the above quote to my pensive mood today , as you already know I am a self-obsessed person, why to be so harsh on self-judgment? Because I write everything related to the inner self, heart, soul and self-journey ūüôā

Jokes apart I do admit sometimes I get lost in my own thoughts so much to the limit that another person might feel ignored or not cared. I am still learning to balance this Selfishness of mine.

Love this quote from Emerson. It is a great accomplishment indeed to be ‚ÄėYourself‚Äô, but what is it, being myself ? , I am already adjusted twisted adapted so much, I hardly have any thought of being myself. Life is changing me everyday and I am constantly learning ¬†but what is it that resonates from inside with this quote? Perhaps I would see it as not giving in to the peer or social pressures to anything which doesn‚Äôt abide with my morals and principles.

If everyone is doing it, doesn’t mean  you have to do it too or it is good for you as well, if you don’t like it, you don’t like it, that’s it .You just to need to say it. It all makes things so much easy instead of giving in to pressure of people and then regretting it from inside.

It is also a cultural issue in India where saying NO is almost a sin thus makes life more difficult, I am always struggling to find a way to politely refuse the answers of personal questions so normally asked or the favours asked which doesn‚Äôt fit into apt category or invitation for things I am not interested in or the talks that are of my least interest. I always try my best not to offend the other party ¬†but on other hand I see people doing all sort of weird stuff , also being rude to others and then ¬†labelling it with ¬†‚ÄėBe Yourself ‚Äė and quoting with it such great quotes. I wonder what would be the reaction of¬† ¬†Emersion to such misuse of his quote ūüôā or it might be other way round too if my interpretation is totally wrong! ūüėõ

Writer’s Quote Wednesday: Mother Teresa

For the Wednesday Ritual of Quotation I am sharing with you all , a beautiful quotation from Mother Teresa.

( Yes, I know it is not wednesday today but ¬†better late than never , ¬†and ¬†I am also whining too much about my ¬†work load from a month ¬†but ¬†I am almost there to finish my project ūüôā ¬†)

This quote held me with itself for quite sometime, When ¬†I read it for first time ¬†I couldn’t read ¬†or search for other quotes for many days, it hooked me completely ¬†in its truth and beauty and how in simple words, ¬†Mother Teresa said it all. I do miss her though I never met her in my life .Her presence in this world was like a lamp ¬†keeping away ¬†darkness by teaching ¬†us ¬†humanity ¬†, love and kindness. We need more such humanitarian leaders today. The world needs more of them than ever.

We are often complaining about poverty  in  some nations, those who have enough complain for  not being rich, some are content with what they have but more is always better. Our scales of measuring  success are also material and monetary but this is how everyone counts affluence , lavishness and prosperity ! But nobody talks about prevailing unseen poverty in our lives, poverty of loneliness , poverty of heart ,  poverty in relationships , poverty in our thoughts , poverty of morality , poverty of humanity. The world is getting poor day by day but can we see it?

We meet people everyday for work or outside, greet them , talk to them to a bare minimum . Do they know us as real us ?,  even after spending 8 hours together in  a day. We are connected to people online by being physically present with others ,why ? may be to diminish our sense of loneliness and the fact is we are all lonely  even when surrounded by people because they are not the ones who love us or our loved ones .We all need to be loved and that is what our hearts are yearning for .

My life experiences taught me that  poor is not the one who is not  able to eat good but the one  who  is not able to sleep good.We need to love others for the seed of love will only grow  love and to be  kind to people around us . The feeling of love could only remove this poverty of  loneliness .

The key to happiness is also being grateful for the blessings of Allah and the Rizq(sustenance) that  He gave us which could be anything not only food or money ,  these hidden riches make us  actual rich in life.

May Allah give us all richness in our hearts , thoughts and actions.Aameen.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday : Rumi

It is been another of hectic week at work and my brain is so drenched in coding that I do have ¬†hardly any thoughts for my blogs ¬†( even in my dreams I am ¬†debugging my code )¬†but I ¬†am still trying to be regular with my Wednesday Quotes ūüôā

When-you-go-through-a (1)

Reason for sharing this quote , I personally feel very associated with this quote , and I have observed it to be so true with my life so far. There are difficult time in everyone’s life ,we all try to be strong ¬†but then there are those breaking ¬†moments when one realizes this is my threshold ,I cannot take it any further! Patience is running up , time is passing by and things are not getting any better. Then also come in self doubt , was it right decision I made ? or am I not good enough!

We are helplessly trying out all the options but nothing works! There is anger and frustration piling up each passing day and we start to lose our motivation,We get sad about our situation . Comparison to  the  happy lives of others bring us more pessimism. We all reach a point  when we have thoughts of giving up on being strong and holding on  , Everything is pulling us to give up but there is something inside, asking us not to give up and hold on ,telling us Everything will be fine! and we wonder  when and how ?

So when you feel that  iota of hope amidst everything going bad, Jump on it and grab it quickly , because it is then when you are so close to things getting done,  finding solutions to your problem  or the end of bad times.

It is alright to cry ,but not alright to give up!

You are just there at end of night,  take a break from yourself ( from your bad mood), take time to think clearly, away from your problems ,say a silent prayer to your Lord for He knows what is inside every heart , just ask Him to ease your way and InshaAllah you will be soon out in the sun again !

( P .S : today again I have¬†deja vu¬†Murphy moment for the metro ¬†but I didn’t get pushed¬†out this time , a bit of Indian style worked for me )

Writer’s Quote Wednesday-Malcolm X

For Wednesday Ritual Quotation , I chose this quote from Malcolm X, inspired from his autobiography that I started reading a month back but didn’t finish it yet, I am more busy in blogging these days and reading posts from WordPress Reader than ¬†my own ¬†list.

Malcolm X was a strong leader with a great vision, unfortunately he didn’t live long enough to write many books but what he left is worth reading! It somehow gives me that strength that I am looking for,his words are empowering which compels for ¬†the need of¬†self-respect and most essential ,everyone’s right to freedom! . He lived for it and died for it.

Most of his quotes are about freedom and equality , I really like this one as it showed his empathetic side and greater understanding for human nature!

We should not be in ¬†a hurry to blame others or categorize people into good or bad just because they are ¬†doing things differently than us or they don’t ¬†do what we do , or ¬†think like we think .We do not know the ground realities what has shaped their behavior and ¬†personality.People do change with time even if they are doing something wrong today, they might correct it tomorrow. Some learn things faster and others take time to understand and implement¬†¬†in their lives ,but the fact is everyone is on a learning process .What we were few years before, We are not the same person anymore.Allah has guided us ,to be¬†wiser and a better human being( from example of people around me, I see them learning and evolving or at least making an effort ),

If I form an opinion about a person that he/she is bad based on their thoughts/actions today ,  I am forming a barrier between me and them. I am restricting myself  to  love or be kind to them as I do for others who agree with my thought. Of-course, I do not wish evil for them but somehow in a deeper sense of being an equal in  creation I am violating my basic principle of treating  others well., or if I am being nice to them on outside ,do not like to make people feel bad, my heart is still not with my behavior. It is our perception  about them which stop us from being good to them, inside out.

So don’t give in to the urge of categorizing people in your mind, be kind to everyone and be nice , it is part of being you ! You might meet them tomorrow as better people or not,Allah knows.Do not make your behavior a reflection of theirs, because it is your OWN precious possession that you will carry forever.

Dealing with Failures

The pain of failure is always more than the happiness of success!

We all have failed in our lives sometimes ¬†and we have succeeded in many things, but the thing that keeps aching in our hearts is the failure ,that one thing we couldn’t achieve ! ,

The joy of achieving  is momentarily and the pain of losing  is stronger ,it has more impact and  stays longer. It could be  one of the reasons why most of us get depressed so easily and prefer to remain sad  than being happy!

But we all know,  all good things will  not happen everyday , each day will not be a perfect day , we can plan things ,work hard , spend our money for it  but nothing can ensure the success of our plans .

So what do we do when we fail or our plans fail apart from feeling angry, sad or even giving up ??

First ,We need to calm down and think what is bothering us ,

  • Our efforts gone wasted ?
  • Our money involved?
  • Low Self esteem?feeling low ?
  • Feeling ‘shame’ to tell it to people around?
  • Pressure from family or society ?

We need to know what is bothering us so we can find a solution ,

The effort and time are lost , well we have always learnt something while trying, Something which has added to our knowledge and experience  is never a loss.We know it now, what could  have been done extra to get it ,so  try again with more efforts and a better approach  to give your best shot.

Money is wasted,¬†we could have done something else with it, it was our hard earned money, well what if the things were succeeded, would we have thought it this way? No, we always have to take into account the risk factor, should¬†¬†be prepared for it, the best blessing is we are alive today and we ¬†can earn it again! ¬†We don’t have to waste our days (which are in fact portions of life) to mourn over it.Life in itself is more precious than to be wasted being sad about these failures.

Feeling low or unworthy:¬†When we fail,we all feel low or unworthy of ourselves, we feel less fortunate ¬†than others and less capable .We need to know we are all ¬†similar but not same, our capabilities ,strengths ,weaknesses, they all vary and so do our interests.Comparing ¬†yourself to someone who could do ¬†some ‘x’ thing so easily or perfectly is not right, it could be his strong point and your weak point, We can always overcome our weaknesses by our efforts and will power to do the things.

Losing is a shame in most of the societies , we are shy to tell people that we failed or we couldn’t do it, Winning is a parameter of evaluating the respect to be given to us .People surrounding us add more to the grief by constantly asking about it. There are some, who even lost their confidence and ¬†never bounced back ,well we do not have to be one of them. Losing is not shame, it is a symbol of being courageous to have tried what you wanted to do , you are not a winner today but tomorrow you can be !

We as muslims are always hopeful for the mercy of Allah, Everything is possible for Allah(‘Kun fayakun’ as it is said in Quran, He says Be and it is) ¬†but He also ¬†asks you to make an effort for it.The door is open , we need to make an effort to look out.Success or failure everything comes from Him as test or as gift ¬†or as a rescue we never know.He knows Best.

So next time if you fail, don’t lose hope neither should you feel low,

Think about what is troubling you , and act upon it.

if you want to take another chance ,go for it.

You thought you gave your best , and there are no more chances to take!  then let it go, Some things are not meant to be . Leave them there, trust Allah and move ahead. Some better things must be waiting  for you on your way Insha Allah.
